The setting was a real plus. The homes sit away from the main road, so it felt quiet and peaceful, and the pool was clean and a nice size. The house itself was lovely in some areas, though other parts were better than the rest. I wasn't expecting luxury, and that was fine with me. The internet could definitely use an upgrade; getting work done was difficult. There also seemed to be just one iron for the whole house, which made getting ready a pain.

Watch out for this kind of behavior. We booked in early December and paid in full, but the host canceled just four days before check-in. When we asked why, he offered a villa at twice the original price and wanted payment through Remitly, outside Orbitz. The very same villa was still showing as available on Orbitz, which looks like a bait-and-switch. We were already in the Dominican Republic, and being left without a place to stay so close to our arrival put us in a difficult and potentially unsafe situation. That could affect travelers, including U.S. citizens. Orbitz needs to vet hosts properly; this was deceptive and irresponsible.

The villa is tucked into the jungle, so it's wonderfully peaceful, and the staff were very friendly. It's good value, too, with the beach about a 10-minute walk away. I'd happily recommend it.
