The private pool and suite were spacious, but the grounds around them were in rough shape. The water was dirty from the day we arrived, with bugs floating in it, old dog feces on the grass, and cigarette butts scattered through the landscaping. I booked after seeing a recommendation in Condé Nast, though I should have trusted my instincts and chosen the new St. Regis. Eden Roc Cap Cana charges luxury rates, but the property feels dated and poorly cared for. The food was mediocre, like what I’d expect at an all-inclusive, and the service was shockingly bad. At breakfast there were plenty of servers around, but only a few helped guests. Our orders were repeatedly wrong, and staff kept taking food to the wrong tables, every single day. The Instagram photos gave me the impression of a stunning beachfront resort. The ocean wasn’t what most people picture when they think of Punta Cana, either. This simply isn’t worth the price. I still have 2 nights left and wish I could get a refund and go somewhere else. Read the reviews carefully before booking.

Meals were a highlight for us. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all delicious, and the care they put into the quality and presentation really showed. From the minute we arrived at Eden Roc Cap Cana, the staff made us feel like family. Everyone was so friendly, attentive, and ready to help with anything we needed. It made the whole trip unforgettable. I can’t wait to return, and I’d happily recommend this resort for its service, food, and beautiful setting.

We spent most of our time on the beach, which was easily the best part of the stay. It’s beautiful. The villas are spacious and the food is very good, but the marketing photos give a misleading impression of what most rooms are like. The property feels dated, especially for the premium five-star prices. Compared with the St. Regis next door, which really does meet that standard, this felt like four stars at best.

The resort’s response to our concern didn’t make up for the room we were given. Manager Julianne came to see it and agreed that the view didn’t meet the beachfront expectation, but the resort was fully sold out and couldn’t offer another room. We were given a $500 hotel credit, which didn’t seem reasonable given the high nightly price. We traveled from New York for a short vacation and paid about $3,000 a night for a One Bedroom Beachfront Suite at a place presented as a five-star resort. Its official description promised an exclusive beachfront feel with stunning terraces or balconies, so we expected a direct view of the beach. Instead, there was only a distant partial ocean view, heavily blocked by a building in front and other structures. The photos attached to this review show what the room actually looked out on. The property has villas, true beachfront rooms, and a small number of bungalows. Many rooms have lovely views, but some, like ours, are significantly obstructed despite being sold in a beachfront category. At these prices, the difference should be clear when booking. I expect accurate room descriptions and meaningful service recovery from a genuine five-star resort. Both fell short here. I wouldn’t return or recommend it at this price. The way this was handled felt like poor customer service, and the stay was a one-star experience in a property marketed as five-star.

The social media manager does a good job: the Instagram account makes this place look much better than it is. In person, the hotel is outdated and needs renovation, and the prices are way out of line with the value. Our room was old and damp. Rain came through the windows, and the wardrobes looked like they were made from the cheapest materials. We also had water damage that discolored and ruined several pieces of clothing. We sent receipts and contacted the hotel multiple times, but five months after the trip there was still no apology or reimbursement. That’s unacceptable for a hotel claiming to be five-star. The staff were friendly, but didn’t seem trained for five-star service. The hotel is massively overpriced, poorly maintained, and very disappointing. Stay away.
