Barceló Santo Domingo

This is my second stay at Barceló Santo Domingo, and this week's visit has confirmed that it's still my hotel of choice here. I've been to many hotels across the Dominican Republic, including several in Santo Domingo, and in my experience a lot of them struggle to keep up with maintenance or deliver consistent service. Barceló won me over on my last stay, and the facilities and service continue to stand out, from the strong shower pressure to the buffet, spa, pool, and gym. Everything was in good condition. The little things made a real difference this time: a warm greeting at the entrance, a smooth and professional check-in, and a thoughtful call after I got to my room to make sure everything was right. Those gestures show a real hospitality culture that many hotels aim for but few deliver consistently. I also want to congratulate the General Manager and Alexa Novas, Guest Experience Manager, whom I had the pleasure of meeting. Alexa was outstanding and clearly reflects the property's high standards. Team Barceló, keep it up. No cambien. Muchas gracias.

The service at Barceló Santo Domingo was excellent throughout my stay. Aurelio Alcala and Carlos, the porters, deserve a special mention: they were welcoming, extremely helpful, and top class. They went above and beyond to make me comfortable. Staff like that really make the difference!

The pool area was beautiful and well maintained, and I felt safe and secure throughout my stay at Barceló Santo Domingo. The food was good at every meal, and the hotel's inviting scent and atmosphere stood out. My room was comfortable and nicely appointed, and the location made it easy to reach Santo Domingo's attractions while still feeling peaceful. The staff were friendly and went out of their way to make the visit memorable. Bautista Romero and Aurelio Aicala were especially helpful when I asked where to go and how to get around safely. They were respectful and memorable in every interaction. I couldn't have asked for a better stay, and would highly recommend Barceló Santo Domingo to anyone visiting the Dominican Republic. I was born and raised in Santo Domingo, 100% Dominican, and never needed to stay at this hotel before. After moving to the US, I came back to visit the island for a couple of weeks and booked two weeks at Barceló Santo Domingo. WAO. The service was top notch, with employees regularly checking in and offering help. The pool was clean and beautiful, and you can hang out on the rooftop to enjoy the view over the city center. My north-facing room had an amazing view. The hotel is clean, well located, and an unbeatable price. I already knew its position from driving past over the years: it's a mile from Güibia (beach in el malecón), the colonial zone, the national theater, and much more. There's also happy hour and free breakfast if you add it ahead of time, which I think is worth it. Special shoutout to Bautista Romero and Aurelio Alcala for their outstanding service.
