I liked the breakfast, and the breakfast lady was especially pleasant. The building has loads of character, with lovely four-poster beds, spacious old-fashioned rooms that stay cool, and big TVs. The rooftop pool and terrace are nice too. But this doesn’t feel like a four-star hotel. Parts are run down, some things are broken, and the bathrooms were missing basics like toilet paper and soap. The service wasn’t very helpful either when I needed a taxi, an ATM, or restaurant suggestions. I’d probably look elsewhere next time for better service.

We’d read some recent reviews and weren’t sure what to expect, but our stay turned out really well. The old building is beautiful, our room was clean and cozy, and everyone was very nice. The Wi-Fi, outlets, and hot water all worked fine.

Right in Zona Colonial, close to the historic buildings and tourist sights. It’s a lovely old building that must once have been a gorgeous Casona.

The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. The hotel has lots of charming spots to sit and unwind, and there always seemed to be something interesting around the next corner. Bring a swimsuit even if pools usually aren’t your thing, the little pool is inviting enough to sit in. If we come back to Santo Domingo, we’d stay here again. Highly recommend it.

The rooms are spacious and the location is great. We did ask the desk clerk for an iron several times, and he kept saying he’d bring one but never did. In the end, we had to go out in wrinkled clothes.
