Halibut Hotel

The staff were amazingly kind, and the food was very good. They cleaned regularly throughout the day. Traffic can get hectic since the hotel sits in the middle of the city, which was the one downside for me. If you want to be close to everything, though, it's a great option.

The employees were nice, and the property felt secure, though the neighborhood isn't very good. For about $115 a night, I got a tiny room and bathroom, with a full-size bed that felt much too small for two people. The window was right beside the restaurant speakers, so it was very loud, and the outlets didn't work, leaving me unable to charge my phone. Locals use the place as a social club, with a gym, sauna, restaurant, and pool. For that price, it wasn't worth it at all.

I ordered food and it came burnt. When I asked for a replacement, it arrived half raw. My kids asked the front desk about the gym, were shown where it was, and went there. About 30 minutes later, a girl told them it was getting dark outside. The next day I went with them, and a woman told me kids weren't allowed in the gym. We were confused since the kids had gone there the day before. There are two pools, but then the woman also said my youngest couldn't use one because she couldn't swim, even though she had her floaties on. She got upset and didn't want to go to the pool anymore. I don't really like this hotel. Find another one.

From about 10 am until 10:30 pm, the pool area had incredibly loud music, with at least eight large professional speakers pointed over it. It even sounded louder inside our room than beside the pool, and some notes seemed to reverberate through the glass door. Our balcony looked out over the pool, and I booked because of the stellar reviews. I wish someone had mentioned the noise, because I never would have stayed here. The music was louder than nearly every concert I've been to. I wouldn't recommend this place if you want quiet or even moderate noise.
