Hotel Boutique Mary Carmen

I booked the meeting rooms for work, and the unclear communication from the start led to them trying to charge me for something I hadn’t agreed to. They told me they’d keep my car if I didn’t pay. Ridiculous. I don’t recommend this hotel because its fees aren’t clear.

The hotel’s website made the reservations look like they were through the property directly, but that wasn’t true. They charged my credit card for the full stay when I booked, without warning, and overcharged me. When I arrived, they tried to charge more than $300 per room. On top of that, the “customer service” was rude.

My wife and I are definitely planning to stay here again. The staff we met were professional and polite, and breakfast at the hotel's Parque Café was very good. Our large, well-appointed room and bathroom were sparkling clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel is beautifully built around an inner courtyard, so outside noise isn’t something you need to worry about. It’s in the city center, with sightseeing, shopping, and nearby parks all easy to reach. This was the best hotel we stayed at in Ecuador. Everything was perfect.

The hotel itself is good, but we had a terrible experience with a glass door. When it opened, it was damaged and made a horrible noise near the lock, which scared my wife and made her cry. The person in charge didn’t check whether she was hurt or apologize. Instead, they said she had to pay for the door and told reception that she’d broken it with a wheelchair. That’s a horrible lie. My mother-in-law was sitting in the wheelchair, and my wife was just kindly opening the door so I could bring her in. There was no notice saying the door was damaged, or telling us to pull or push. Be careful with the doors here.
