Hostal DMathias

The staff were great at helping with advice about tours, sights, and buses. They also offer good discounts on rafting, canyoneering, paragliding, bike hire, and other activities, and the bikes were good quality. The hostel itself was exceptionally clean and peaceful, with a large kitchen and hot showers. It sits right by the bus station and in a very central spot. Expediciones Amazónicas, their travel agency, is just down the street. I really enjoyed my stay.

The staff were friendly, helpful, and excellent. I also liked the activity rates, and would recommend renting bikes and trying white water rafting. Both kitchens were well equipped, with lots of room to store food and cook. They were the best I've seen in months of traveling around Central and South America. D’Mathias is centrally located, but the rooms sit back from the street, so it was lovely and quiet. The beds were really comfortable, and everything from the rooms to the shared areas was immaculately clean. Five stars all round!

We stayed three nights, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful with suggestions for nearby activities. Laundry was reliable and inexpensive compared with other hostels. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the hot showers were great. Everything about the hostel was good. There wasn't much interaction between guests, though that may just have been during our stay. Definitely recommend it.
