Hostal "León"

The managers were friendly and helpful, and the potted plants make the place sweet to spend time in. From the top floor, there are lovely mountain views and a small open-air kitchen. You can refill your own containers with drinking water, and the main market and a good grocery store are just a few blocks away. Laundry is available on site for a little extra. A grade school next door means squealing and shouting in the mornings, except on weekends. I had a great time and was sad to leave.

The entrance may draw you in, but we had the worst stay ever in Baños. The owner and the man at the front desk showed a lack of basic courtesy toward guests. Nobody offered to help carry our luggage to the room. We also had to leave unexpectedly because of a family emergency. Even then, they wouldn't work with us to refund any part of the price we'd paid. It felt like they didn't care that we were dealing with a serious situation and had to leave in a hurry. They were rude and heartless. You can find better places in Baños with better care and energy.

There’s no parking at the hotel, so you have to rent a space. Our top-floor room had no hot water, making a morning shower impossible. The service was terrible: they gave us neither towels nor soap, so we had to go downstairs to Pedro for them. Shampoo isn't provided either.
