Hotel Casa San Rafael

José greeted us himself and made check-in easy. We felt at home and safe right away, especially after a terrible experience at the hotel where we’d first booked. Everyone on staff was warm, kind, attentive and accommodating, and the team went out of their way with suggestions and recommendations. The antique colonial house is beautiful, with traditional details preserved alongside modern necessities. The rooms are charming and comfortable, and the shared spaces are full of inviting little details. A wonderful experience, thank you José and everyone!

The staff are super friendly, and they keep coffee ready all day, which helps when you haven’t slept much. The beds are rock hard, though, and the walls are so thin you hear every car and person outside. Bring earplugs and you should manage. With better mattresses, some sound control and amenities like ice, I’d rate it 4-5 stars.

It looked much nicer in the pictures than it did in person. My room was small and shabby, and the bathroom was so cramped that I couldn’t shut the door without stepping all the way in and touching the wall, even though I’m a small person. It was loud, too. From the first floor I could hear people walking heavily overhead, and someone snored all night. Very uncomfortable.

It’s a lovely place to stay, beautiful and clean, with kind, friendly staff. The location is great, and you can easily walk to lots of landmarks.
