The location was the only good thing. I couldn’t sleep all night because the walls are paper-thin and it was noisy. You hear other guests and a constant ringing as people pass through the entrance. The nights are very cold, and our bed was tiny. The bathroom was so cramped that I had to stick my legs out the door when sitting on the toilet. That may even be an advantage, since closing the bathroom door leaves you locked inside. The water was icy on the first day. The next day it was barely less cold, then turned icy again after two minutes. The bed had dark hairs and old stains on it. There was no TV remote. We asked several times and got only, “search harder.” Don’t come here unless you have no other choice.

The staff were happy to answer my questions about things to see and do nearby, and they spoke great English. It’s a quiet hostel right in central Cuenca, with clean beds and very hot showers. I stayed an extra night when I came back through. I’d definitely recommend it to other travelers.

Marge was a great host, always helpful. The breakfast was excellent, and the WiFi worked well. Rooms were clean but on the small side, with a good bed and decent linen. The shower had excellent hot water, and cafes and bars are an easy walk away. Good value for Cuenca. I stayed 3 nights in November 2019 and would come back. Thanks, Bruce & Margo.

Celso’s courier service can take you wherever you need to go, and his prices are very affordable. His wife runs the hostel and was friendly and helpful. They’re both caring and full of useful information. I’d give both the hostel and the courier service 5 stars.

The people who run the hostal are really friendly and helpful, and the location is convenient and inexpensive. Downtown nightlife can get noisy, though it’s quiet enough after 11.
