Hotel Las Gardenias

The location was great and the rooms okay, but our stay in Cuenca was somewhat soured by this accommodation. I’d advise people to think twice, especially if they have an early trip or bus, or run into a problem. The WiFi didn’t really work in my room, though that wasn’t a big deal. I don’t recognize the helpful staff described in other reviews. The staff on duty had no answers and could only refer me to the administration. The final night was especially noisy, through no fault of the hotel. After some back and forth with the faceless administration, I was told the hotel was full, but only after I went downstairs to ask again because I’d had no response. That didn’t seem true since the room next door was empty. The whole thing was strange and unsatisfactory, and I wouldn’t want others to have the same experience.

The parking lot is really tiny, and with such a small crew you need patience since they handle everything. Still, the place is clean, and the staff are kind and always smiling.

It’s a welcoming place with everything kept neat, and I really liked the decorative touches. It’s also close to the historic area in downtown Cuenca City.
