Del Parque Hotel & Suites

The rooms are huge, with lovely decor and a spectacular view of the cathedral. It’s in a great location, and the price was good. Breakfast was nice too. I couldn’t fully enjoy the place because the bathroom air freshener was overpowering. I wish those weren’t used anywhere, and hope they can be removed.

It’s a cute place in Spanish colonial style, right by the park. I had a nice park view from my balcony even though my room wasn’t on a corner. The staff were attentive, and everything was very clean. I gave it 5 stars for the modest price I paid. I imagine that for $40+ you could find something quite a bit nicer and more upscale nearby, though probably not as well located.

We had high hopes, but we’re leaving very disappointed after all the problems. My card was charged $80 a night even though my confirmation said $36. The photos were misleading, and the bed was missing boards, so you sank into it. The bathroom smelled bad and felt humid. Room service cost a lot more than we expected, and the prices didn’t match the menu.

The location is right in the heart of downtown, with lots of restaurants, bars, and shops nearby, and you can walk to everything you need. The area felt very safe. Our room was large, with a separate kitchen and dining area. It had no heating or air conditioning, but that wasn’t an issue during our stay. We were told those are never needed. The main square is noisy, and the windows and doors don’t block it. I wore earplugs every night, though I’m a light sleeper. There’s no front desk, and the hotel and restaurant share an entrance. If you’ll be out late or need to leave early, you have to coordinate with restaurant staff because the front doors are locked when it’s closed. We never had a problem with that.
