Hotel Victoria

We only had one night here, which left me wishing we could stay longer. The location by the river walk is hard to beat, with little pubs on the street, a couple of great coffee shops close by, a museum right beside the hotel, and plenty of varied, excellent restaurants around it. The staff were both professional and incredibly friendly. Our clean room had two street-facing windows that sealed tightly when shut, though we could still hear traffic, so earplugs helped us sleep peacefully. There's a beautiful dining room for the included breakfast, a fireplace lit at night in the reception lounge, and a sitting room on every floor with useful books about Cuenca and Ecuador. European living in South America.

At the start of the historic center, the hotel was ideally placed. We stayed two nights at the end of our three-week trip around Ecuador. Our room faced the river through a full glass wall, and the view was amazing. I loved falling asleep to the sound of the water. The reception and restaurant service was extraordinary, and the hotel has so many lovely little touches. We ate delicious dinners and breakfasts at the restaurant. I'd happily recommend it.

From the service to the location, this place was a delight. The staff were as good as any I've encountered across four continents. Breakfast at El Jardin downstairs was complimentary and excellent in every way. On Calle Larga, it's an easy walk to the best of El Centro Cuenca. I highly recommend Hotel Victoria and hope I can come back soon.

The staff were fantastic, and the rooms I tried were all clean and tidy. I stayed in three different rooms, including one with a balcony overlooking the roaring river. It's a great location and very good value for the money.
