Villa Emilia

I spent 9 days at Villa Emilia Hostal in Cuenca, Ecuador, and had a wonderful stay. The location in El Vergel made it easy to walk to many attractions and into the historic El Centro. Manuel and Maria Elena at the front desk were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the kitchen staff did a fantastic job preparing and serving the food. My room was cleaned wonderfully each day and always smelled fresh. Thanks, Villa Emilia, for a memorable visit. I'll be back, and I highly recommend it if you're staying in Cuenca.

We brought our dog and stayed two nights. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and the complimentary breakfast was very good. There was a house alarm going off for hours each day, a very loud dog barking across the street, and construction next door. Of course, the hotel can't do anything about those noises, so maybe ask for a room toward the back of the house.

The whole team working there was wonderful, and the area felt quiet by Ecuador standards and safe. Restaurants and shops are close by, and old town is an easy walk. The huge construction project next door didn't bother us. WiFi was fine, and tea and drinking water were available 24x7. Our room and bed were big, and the bathroom was huge, all very comfy. The room was cold, but the little space heater helped a lot. Breakfast was simple but adequate.
