Oro Verde Cuenca

My uncle stayed here for a few days, and I visited him a couple of times. The rooms were good and the staff friendly. He doesn’t speak Spanish, but everyone still helped and accommodated him. I was very grateful.

The staff and service were amazing, really attentive. Our spacious room had a comfortable king bed and heated bathroom floor, and breakfast was an excellent buffet with high-quality food. Someone often plays piano in the front lobby, and there’s also great coffee, tea, and a warm canelaso aperitif. We had a long weekend at Hotel Oro and truly enjoyed it. It lives up to its 5 star status, and you won’t be disappointed.

UPDATE, 9.30.24: This was a complete misunderstanding between me and the rep. After I contacted the executives, they responded right away and said they would look into it. A few weeks later, while talking with the CFO as he was about to refund $200, we realized I’d been charged the correct amount. I’d misunderstood what the initial rep said by text. Thanks to Bayron Vallejo & Cristian Serrano for their patience and for explaining everything. I take responsibility for not fully understanding the situation, so I’m overturning my first review. I appreciate their attention and excellent customer service, and I’ll certainly recommend this hotel to friends and family! My original issue was that my deposit still hadn’t been released over a month after I checked out. I’d emailed the CFO and the Manager because nobody else had been able to help.

Luz made our stay memorable. We told her we were visiting Cuenca for our 10th wedding anniversary, and she surprised us with complimentary tiramisu cake at our last breakfast. The restaurant staff were attentive, and they kindly gave us juice when we arrived around 10 PM on our first night. The room was clean, and the check-in staff helpful. The free airport shuttle picked us up on time. The downside was corridor carpet work near our room. The noise and strong glue smell coming through the doors kept us from sleeping late. I’m sure the hotel will shine for other guests once the repairs are done.
