We were shocked when the receptionist acted unsurprised by the cockroaches and explained that they’re common because first-floor rooms are near the restaurant. That made us wonder if the restaurant where we’d eaten breakfast that morning was infested too. On our first night we had to kill two roaches. The only offer was to move us upstairs, to the second floor. They also offered free lunch at the same restaurant as compensation, which we politely turned down.
A good hotel for the price, with a reasonable balance between cost and what you get.
I was charged in cash and then charged again on my credit card. They said they’d call me back about it, but of course they never did. It’s sad that employees feel they have to take every dollar they can from a tourist. Fraud.
The shower controls in my room were hard to adjust. The rooms themselves are large, airy, comfortable, and clean. It’s right in the town centre, close to restaurants, banks, and other tourist attractions.
There was a bad smell in the room, probably from the cleaning products, and opening the windows helped a little. The internet was decent, the staff were very nice and spoke English, which is rare in Ecuador. They also accepted credit cards, which isn’t common there. It’s a nice hotel in a very good location in Guayaquil, and yes, I’d stay again.
