Really good experience here. Communication was good, and the staff were very friendly.

We got in quite late, but the receptionist was there to welcome us. It felt safe, and the fan in the room was enough to keep me comfortable. A nice little breakfast was waiting in the morning, with toast, coffee, and tea. A good small hostel for the night.

The people here are so kind, and I’d definitely recommend the place. When I reached the airport for my Galapagos trip, I found the taxi trunk empty and realized my backpack had been left behind. The hostel manager took a taxi to bring it to me. They can also arrange airport transfers and tours to the Galapagos or wherever you want to go. Breakfast costs $2 and is a good deal. They sell toiletries, water, and beer, and there’s a well-stocked book exchange and decent internet. The central patio has a small wading pool, a kitchen guests can use, a hammock, and nice rooms, both dorms and private. It’s a bit north of downtown, but they’ll call a taxi and give you whatever information you need. My first night was in a nice room, but the second night the air-conditioned room wasn’t available, so I was put in a room with a fan, which wasn’t great in the heat.

I really liked having someone at reception or concierge who spoke English. I’ve stayed at lots of hostels where the front desk staff don’t speak it, so that was helpful and impressive. The staff were friendly, the accommodations were good, and there’s a pool along with several nice common areas.
