Hampton Inn Guayaquil Downtown

There are fast food places, restaurants of all kinds, and shops right next door, in the middle of downtown. It felt secure during the day and somewhat secure at night, though I’d keep handbags close anywhere in the world. Our suite faced the rear, and that window might as well be sealed, it looks onto junk upon junk. There’s lots of traffic congestion downtown, so it might be a nightmare if you want peace and quiet, but we couldn’t hear a thing from the rooms. The room had a slight damp odor at first, which improved after the AC had run for a few hours. Breakfast was decent, the staff were nice and polite, the place was clean, and the exercise equipment was good. One huge plus: I accidentally left my wedding band on the nightstand with some trash. When I came back late that night, the room had been cleaned and my ring was still sitting there. Honest staff!

It’s been closed for over a year, and the lettering has been removed, but it clearly used to be the Hampton Inn. I stayed there several years ago and it was great. I’d stay again if it were still open, but we found a good hotel nearby, The Palace.

The rooms were clean, the breakfast was great, and the people were the friendliest. Great service.
