Hotel City Boyaca

Good.

There were no sheets, only a fleece blanket that was too small, though by then that felt like a minor issue. The room smelled horribly of urine, a smell we couldn't cover up, and there were cockroaches everywhere. We also found serious electrical hazards: a lamp exploded with black smoke, there were sparks in the shower, and exposed wires above a water inlet. In six months of traveling, we'd never encountered anything like it, and we're not picky. The place is dirty and dangerous. The owner seemed unbothered by the danger and apparently dishonest. We stayed and paid for both planned nights, but he filed a false no-show claim with Booking.com. It seemed intended either to get extra money or to stop us posting a negative review after the complaint we'd made. It didn't work, of course, but the move was outrageous. Yes, it's cheap, but don't stay here. It's not worth risking electrocution.

The receptionist was attentive and kept an eye on my motorcycle while I was at the hotel. The room was comfortable, with clean towels and working air conditioning, and the TV had Netflix. I did notice a cigarette smell in the room, though.

I only called to ask a question, but the receptionist wouldn't even tell me his name. The service was terrible. If you can't speak to customers in a friendly way, how do you expect to sell customer service?
