Hotel Rizzo

I paid more on arrival than the online price we'd agreed on, and the whole stay left me feeling ripped off and disrespected. I booked a hotel to sleep and rest, but constant honking, motorcycle engines, and a garbage truck kept me awake. The place is beside two busy main streets, and the windows can't be closed, so the noise makes sleeping impossible. I asked to move because I thought it might just be my room, but the others are the same. The hotel was old, dated, and dirty, and I saw several roaches. My first room's air-conditioning didn't work either. There was also a strong smell of cigarettes and mold throughout the hotel. I could still hear the traffic noise in my ears afterward. I don't recommend it and won't come back.

A clean but dated economy hotel, with a very friendly staff and an elevator. There's no suicide shower. The location is great, right across from Iguana Park, and it was a $5 taxi ride from Terminal Terrestre. Our room cost under $30. Restaurants are within walking distance, including Pizza Hut, Wendy's, and KFC if you need American-style fast food. We'll stay again.

We had a small patio, clean rooms, and good internet, all for a very low price for the area. The place felt safe, and it's right by Parque de las Iguanas, a must-see for tourists, as well as close to the riverfront at Malecon 2000. Rooms are a little dated, but $40 a night in the city center is hard to complain about. Breakfast was included, though we left early and didn't try it. A good value. You'll want to know a little Spanish for the front desk.

The staff were nice and breakfast was simple, but bugs made it hard to sleep. I was there for one night and killed three crickets and a cockroach. It made me wonder how many more might be around.
