Donkey Den Guesthouse

We spent about a week at The Donkey Den and already can't wait to return. From our room, we could watch and hear the waves, and the sunsets over the water each evening were remarkable. The staff were helpful and courteous, and the community spirit, art, plants, and welcoming feel all made the place special. The beach is right out front, with several restaurants nearby and a few tiki hut bars along the shore. They can arrange a great taxi service if you need one, and are happy to answer questions about the area. It's a must stay. Book now and thank me later : )

The value was great, and I enjoyed the tasty food on the beach and nearby. Playa Santa Marianita is lovely, with kitesurfing, birdwatching, hikes, and little spots you can reach by walking along the beach until you can't go farther in either direction. It worked well for remote work thanks to the generator, and for meeting locals and Linda’s community. Hot water was great, and the pets were cute and strong-minded.

The burgers and onion rings were delicious, and our room was clean with nice decor. The owner spends time with guests and checks that everything about their stay is just right. This place really is one of a kind.

Bring food to cook if you can. The store is far away and has very little to choose from, mostly boxed prepared foods rather than cold sandwiches. Our room was very clean and well equipped, and our dog had a great time with the friendly, well-behaved cats and dogs. It's a wonderful place to stay, and I hope to get out of the city for a few days there again.
