The room is on the small side, so be ready for that. The reason to come is the scenery and nature. There’s a lovely garden behind the hotel with a pool and hot tub, plus a path down to the river. I also really liked the patio outside the room, and a very sweet dog followed us around the property. I enjoyed staying here.

Breakfast was the best part for me, with healthy choices alongside traditional Ecuadorean food. The stay itself left me disappointed, and I don’t think I’d recommend the place. When my fiancée and I arrived, a man approached us and seemed uptight. He took us to the backyard where our room was and went straight to demanding payment, without making us feel welcome. I value welcoming hosts. The rooms are quite small, and our shower floor was dirty. The electric shower wasn’t working properly, so I had to wash in cold water and my fiancée wasn’t willing to do that. There was no daily cleaning either. Nobody checked whether we needed towels or toilet paper, which we did.

The team went out of their way to get my walking shoes back to us in Quito after I left them behind. Staff were friendly, and the grounds were well maintained. The hotel was clean and felt safe. I’d give the room and hotel a 5, but we were on the top floor beneath the sloping eaves. It was a little warm, and the bathroom headroom was limited.

Just a few minutes on foot from the town centre, this is a great spot in Mindo. There’s a beautiful green back garden and patio. We had a really good stay and highly recommend it.
