Seaside Garden Lodge Mompiche

Access is something to plan around: the hotel can only be reached along the beach at low tide. From Mompiche, you can take a taxi for $5 during low tide or walk for 45min. At high tide, getting there that way is impossible. Once you’re there, though, it’s a truly incredible place. The views are breathtaking, the service is great, and every meal is fresh and delicious. The food is very affordable by American standards, though a little pricier by Ecuador standards. It’s a good place to disconnect while still having reception and WiFi downstairs. I absolutely loved it.

The hostel is only accessible by motor bike twice a day, otherwise it’s about a 30-minute walk to town, so keep that in mind. The owner is incredibly friendly and speaks English. From your room, the view is phenomenal: waking up to the sunrise and waves crashing on the beach is something money can’t buy.

The rooms are big, the place is clean, and the people around are friendly. It’s peaceful, with an almost private beach stretching 5km and some of the best cooks in Mompiche. I can’t believe I’ve only just left. Such an incredible place, and affordable too. Thank you!!

We had such chilled days here, and can’t thank Aldo & Manya enough. It’s a family-run hotel with a stunning ocean view, and there’s a little surf right in front of the house. You mostly hear nature, with no cars, loud music, or the roosters you get all over Mompiche. The seafood is the best in Ecuador, I mean it! There’s also the cutest cat, Steve, and the loveliest dog, Laika. Communication was great, and they were flexible about check-in and check-out. A perfect spot to relax and enjoy nature.
