The view from the top is awesome, and the beds are comfortable and clean. There’s hot water for showers, surf hire is only $5, and beers at the hostel cost $2. José and jorge are legends. We loved the hostel enough to come back for another night after going up to Ayampe. It’s really close to the beach too.

It’s in the quiet part of Montañita, with friendly staff, and I felt it was close and safe. I stayed the whole week and couldn’t have picked a better spot for trotamundo. If I come back for another festival, I’ll stay here again.

There are lots of spots to sit and relax, and the kitchen is nice. The location is great, close to the beach, with a lovely view from the rooms and rooftop. But the best part is Jose, the best hostel owner I’ve met. He makes you feel at home and helps with anything you need.

The nightlife in Montanita doesn’t disturb you here, though town is still an easy walk away. The hostel has a relaxed feel, a well-equipped kitchen, and friendly staff.

I came as a solo female traveler and felt safe and taken seriously. When a guy behaved badly toward me, the manager backed me up and focused on helping resolve it so I wouldn’t have to worry about him. The staff were friendly and ready to help, and cleaned every day. The social atmosphere and lovely backyard and terrace kept me here for two weeks instead of just a few days. It’s also close to the beach. We had backyard barbecues for $5, and could invite friends. Beach chairs cost $3 a day; you can rent a surfboard at the beach, a one-minute walk away, or ask the manager for a contact. Breakfast is granola, yogurt, banana, and coffee available all day. Our dorm had a balcony for drying things overnight. They can provide mosquito nets and extra blankets, and the rooms have fans and lockers.
