Hostal Solemare

We liked everything else, especially the fresh coffee that was free all day. But the room was ridiculously hot, and that paper fan on the ceiling wasn't much help, even if heat is expected here. The rooms had a mildewy smell, typical for beachside accommodation, while the pillows smelled like cat pee.

Paulet is a big reason I stayed for six weeks, from March to April 2023. Despite being young, the manager was professional, worked days and nights, helped everyone out, and brought the guests together by organizing activities. We had kickboxing classes at the hotel 3/week with Sergio, who I highly recommend, and surf sessions with René, who was friendly and instructive. She also speaks English perfectly, which helped. The place is in La Punta, a quieter and better option than Montañita, with direct access to nearby restaurants, surf location, yoga class, Spanish lesson, and bars. From the balcony, the ocean view in the morning and at sunset was stunning. Our room had no air conditioning, but the sea air at night and the fans made it perfect. The rooms, including private bathrooms, and the shared kitchen were clean, and they served fresh coffee every day. It felt like home.

The owners are lovely and happy to chat in English, Spanish, or Italian. The rooms vary in size, and the big family room was huge. We had strong wifi, clean rooms, and fans that kept us comfortable. There are good food options at this end of the beach, and no late clubs or noise to keep you awake. If you're here to surf, you can check the waves from your balcony and get into the water within seconds through the direct beach access. Great value for a place right on the beach. I'd happily stay again.

It's an easy walk into town, but far enough away to avoid the little town's noise and mayhem. Right on the beach and a great spot for surfing, with wifi and parking available. The rooms are clean and basic, and it works well for a longer stay. The owner is a really nice guy and speaks English well.
