El Pinzón

Housekeeping and the person I assume is the owner kept walking in without knocking, including twice while I was changing. It was invasive, inappropriate, rude, and unprofessional. The beds were stained, too.

We planned on staying two nights and wound up staying five. It's affordable, in a quiet part of town, and the staff are lovely and really helpful. The room was cleaned daily and towels were included. There's also a large, clean, well equipped kitchen. I'd recommend it to future travelers.

It's a basic hostel, nothing fancy, but you get a lot for your money at El Pinzon. Our room had air conditioning, two beds, and a small bathroom. Both it and the common areas were very clean. There's a fairly big kitchen, and drinking water is available for free all the time, though the social area beside the kitchen is quite small. The manager was friendly, helped us with our plans, and gave us information about tours. There's a laundry service next to the hostel. If the basics are what you're after, I can highly recommend it.

The staff were very kind throughout, even while we were sorting things out. That was about the only good thing. Our room was moldy and felt like a basement. Even the walls seemed damp, and it only started to dry after we turned on the air conditioning. We immediately found two cockroaches. We asked for our money back and moved to a much better hostel at the same price.
