Hotel Palace Galapagos

The room felt dated, and the old, nearly ragged towels could use replacing. Breakfast was below average, and there weren’t any real amenities. The hotel is relatively quiet and about a 7-10 minute walk from the town center. For the price, it should either cost a lot less or make enough improvements to justify it. It didn’t feel like a three-star place.

Our nights were almost impossible to sleep through. The beds were hard, and every 15 seconds or so, drops hit the tin roof. The second night was even worse. Then, in the middle of the night, the toilet wouldn’t flush and the sink gurgled without giving us any water. I’ll attach a video to this review. The room was damp, with water stains on the walls and ceiling, and the tiny bathroom had a shower curtain that smelled worse whenever it got wet. Service was strange: the front desk woman didn’t look at us when we arrived, though the owner was a bit more helpful once he got in. We got a little tea in champagne glasses. Breakfast wasn’t a buffet, as we’d expected, and we had to tell the owner when we wanted to come down. The location was okay if you don’t mind walking about 15 minutes down to puerto ayorra. My travel companion and I really went through it.

A calm, simple hotel, and the staff were very attentive. Sónia was especially wonderful and made our stay better. The one drawback is that the bathroom isn’t fully separated from the room, which may not work for everyone.

Breakfast was amazing, freshly cooked at a time that worked with our daily plans. The hosts were so welcoming, friendly and attentive, and went above and beyond during our 3 night stay. Our room was spacious and well kept, with a big bathroom. It’s near town but far enough from the noise. Highly recommend.
