Hotel Verde Azul

The price is low and the location is good, but the stay felt closer to a 2-star hotel than a 3-star one. Service was poor, breakfast portions were small, the rooms weren't clean, and there were ants everywhere.

The room was in bad shape: it smelled awful, the beds and sheets were dirty, and I could see hair left by previous guests. When I asked the woman at reception to have the room cleaned because of the smell, she said she needed the boss's permission. The pool looked like a dirty lake, and breakfast was terrible. I was there a couple of days ago, and it's sad places like this are still operating. The photos seem to be from when the business first opened and are false advertising. Nobody was friendly, either. I give it zero stars. I went to Hotel Fernandina instead, which was very nice and clean, with good customer service. Best hotel on the island.

The staff were lovely, and the quiet location is about 10-15 minutes from the ferry pier and away from the main town. Breakfast was okay for something included: instant coffee, juice, fresh bread, eggs, and fruit. We had a decent room with an en suite and a/c, and the WiFi was fast with no issues. The pool area was relaxing, with hammocks and WiFi. The pool itself was small and a bit cloudy, but you don't go to the Galapagos for a pool. A good spot for a few nights.

The noise was awful, especially if you're on the ground floor. The boy spent half an hour setting tables at 2100 while watching his favorite series on his phone, then did the same thing at 0530 in the morning. You can hear it right in your room, along with every plate coming off the kitchen shelf, the airco pumps, and snoring from upstairs. Breakfast wasn't friendly, either. Getting an extra toast was almost impossible, and it cost a dollar, with a lot of ants thrown in as a bonus.
