This is a beautiful castle, and the owners look after it like their own home. It's at the edge of town, a bit farther out than some places but still very walkable. Mr. Roberto was wonderful, listened, and gave us great tours. Staying here feels like being in someone's house, not a hotel or an Airbnb, which has its good and bad sides. Ms. Gianna runs the place. She tried to host us, but didn't listen to us as customers, often cut me off, and kept blaming us for things. I booked their galapagosaquatours 6day-5nights package for 5 people. Two weeks before the trip, I asked to switch to a 4 day tour. Gianna refused because she said the reservation was already made, and told me I'd lose my deposit if I changed it. Our family, ranging from 8yr to 75yr-olds, had planned this trip more than a year ahead, and I didn't think we could manage 5 days of tours with 3 boat trips, but I had no choice but to continue. The first and second boat tours were interesting, but after the second we were all extremely cold and sick. Only one person made it to the third boat trip. I asked Gianna to call the boat tour and see if we could cancel or sell our seats. Instead, she scolded me for booking it in the first place. I asked for no one to enter my room during my stay. Every morning I asked and texted Gianni that I didn't need daily cleaning and didn't want anyone coming in. Every day I came back to find someone had entered and done something in the room. For the second room, I requested two separate beds, but only one bed was made when we checked in. Rather than fix it, Gianna insisted it was my fault for not telling her. Before the first boat tour, Gianna said towels would be provided. After swimming at Las Grietas, everyone else on the boat took out their own towels, and we had none, so we had to put up with the cold wind. Later, the captain asked if we wanted to snorkel. Everyone said no because it was too cold, and we went to see sharks instead. Back at LA Fortaleza, I told Gianna there hadn't been towels on the boat and everyone else had brought their own. Roberto said that wasn't good and he'd talk to the boat owner. Gianna said we had only gone to Las Grietas and hadn't snorkeled, and that it was my fault and my choice not to snorkel. She said towels were only provided after snorkeling. We had been in the water at Las Grietas, so I don't see why it mattered which water we were in. Again, instead of acknowledging and fixing the situation, I got blamed. The engine fumes on the second boat made me extremely nauseous. My husband told Gianna this was part of why we couldn't go on the third trip. The owners pressed me for details about whether I'd taken anti-motion-sickness medicine, how many pills, and when, then insisted I was sick because I hadn't taken enough, not because of the fumes. You can see how argumentative the owner is by reading the responses to reviews. I wish I'd known that before booking. The place is beautiful and offers good value, but understand what you're getting into.

Breakfast was fresh and delicious, and the pool was a lovely place for a sunset swim. We also enjoyed having little lizards and beautiful butterflies right around the property. It’s only a short walk to the town center, and the owners know a lot about island tours and are happy to answer questions. Each room has its own character, with thoughtful details that show off the architecture. Roberto designed and built the place himself over the past 20 years, which is impressive. He and the other owners are kind and knowledgeable, and our room was comfortable, with AC and a TV. Such a memorable place to stay in Santa Cruz.

The hotel’s excursions were a highlight for us, especially the guided trips to see Galapagos wildlife and beaches. We also enjoyed the pool and restaurant, where the local food was delicious. The staff were attentive and friendly, and the rooms were spacious, nicely decorated, and had beautiful views. There was fresh coffee and homemade breakfast each morning. The whole place has a castle-like feel, with tall spires, stone walls, and intricate details that made the architecture striking. It felt like a fairytale castle on a tropical island, and we’d love to come back for another mix of adventure and relaxation.

After sunny days out, the pool was a refreshing treat, and we liked that the hotel is quiet beside the national park while still close to the center and restaurants. My wife and I spent three lovely nights here. Breakfast was nice, and the owners were thoughtful and kind. Our room was spacious and very clean, the bathroom had a great shower, and the bed was so comfortable that we slept really well.

We stayed in the Sun & Moon room, with a turret that had outdoor seating and another outdoor spot with a hammock. From there we had a lovely view of the island and could watch the sun come up. Breakfast was lovely too. When we arrived, they walked us through a map and explained where everything was. They can arrange island tours and help with other trips. A really distinctive place to stay, and I’d recommend it.
