Heidi knows a lot and can help arrange tours or book bus tickets. The room is simple and budget friendly, with a view of the fish market. Just know the photos are misleading. Right now it feels like a construction site, with wires, pipes, and metal all over. I nearly tripped and fell off the roof in broad daylight. There’s also a rooster outside all the bedrooms that starts crowing at 4am. Even good earplugs didn’t help much. Maybe it’ll be lovely in the future, but the pictures don’t show what it’s currently like.

The hostel is close to the seafront bars and restaurants, but tucked far enough away to be a bit quieter. There’s a nice roof terrace with a fridge and facilities. It’s across from the fish market, but we didn’t notice any smell or noise. Loved the location.

I had a really bad stay at this hotel. It’s charming, but clearly not well maintained. There were exposed electrical wires in the shower, and I nearly got electrocuted. I told the owner, Haidi, but she didn’t apologize and didn’t seem to understand the problem. The room was dirty and had no privacy because it looked out onto reception. There was no drinking water available, and the hotel’s ground floor looked more like a storage room. The only bad experience we had on our trip to Ecuador.
