La Barquita Beach Hostel

The garden is large, with paths leading to a big pool and sundeck with chairs, all free, and another path down to a private pier on the beach. Rooms are spacious and clean, and the setting is pleasant. The dining and bar area, which isn't in use now, is built like a boat, as the name La Barrequita suggests. It's especially beautifully designed inside. Staff are very friendly, parking is free and secure, and prices are reasonable. The $ 6 breakfast, though, is terribly overpriced.

Loved the pool and the access to the ocean. It was a really relaxing stay. The owners take things pretty slowly, so if you need everything right away, you'll probably be unhappy. Go at the beach's pace and it's all cool.

Don't be fooled by the pictures. This place is a dump, plain and simple, and I can't understand its rating. Calling it rustic doesn't come close. The family running it unfortunately doesn't seem to know how to manage a hotel or restaurant. And yes, I made the mistake of staying there. The response to my review only shows how utterly unprofessional they are.

The AC was decent, and it was a nice place in general. The rooms weren't as clean as I'd expected, though, and the location was neither the best nor the worst. I'd give it 3 stars and recommend it overall, but be aware it's not as clean as it looks.
