Victor Hugo Hotel

The place is nice and clean, and both the food and drinks are good. They make the best tequila sunrise in Porta Lopez. We stayed five days and paid extra to upgrade to a sea view room. The people running the facilities are nice, and overall it was a good stay, but the hospitality could be better. They seem petty about small things, like breakfast that should be included for the price, and coffee in the lobby that isn’t complimentary for all guests. Those little touches make travel easier and help people feel welcome, and free coffee costs the hotel nothing. We’ll be back, but hope they’ll be less petty next time.

We only went in out of curiosity, but the rooms were so beautiful and carefully built that we booked one even though we already had an Airbnb for the night. The hotel is right across from the beach in Puerto Lopez. For a perfect stay, ask for a sea view room on the third floor and leave the terrace doors open so you can hear the ocean all night.

It’s a short ride to the bus station, and the hotel is across the road from the beach. It’s a little way from the main street, though still quite close, and I guess that makes it a bit quieter. The rooms are a good size. Breakfast wasn’t included in my package, but the portions were generous enough for us to share, and one morning we had to take some away to finish later. The hot water and water pressure weren’t very good during our stay. I’d stay at this hotel again, though I wouldn’t bother coming back to this town, since there isn’t much to do. I would have stayed longer in montanita.

We stayed for two nights at the end of our Ecuador trip and absolutely loved it. The room had an amazing view, and the beach was only 30 seconds away. The staff were great and welcoming, and the restaurant served delicious food. Really glad we stayed here, highly recommend it!
