Tuzco Lodge

I’ve stayed at Tuzco lodge more than once, and it always feels like home. It’s clean and cozy, close to the beach, with luxurious services and professional, friendly staff and owners. Doña Marci, Don Julio, Julio junior, Karen, Freddy, Ronald, and every worker there are amazing. I’ll keep choosing it whenever I visit Puerto López.

Julio was brilliant throughout our stay, even helping us practice Spanish. He also gave us advice on booking Isla de la Plata tours, including how much they should cost. The lodge itself is lovely, with lots of space, big rooms, comfortable beds, warm showers, a kitchen with a fridge and microwave, and a sweet terrace. We loved the fresh fruit, juice, coffee, and changing main dish at breakfast, and eating by the pool among the trees was a great start to the day. Getting to Puerto López from Guayquil had been confusing, but Julio came to our rescue. He tried calling the bus company without success, then asked around and found some bus times and the company name, Jipijapa cooperativa. When we finally arrived, he was just as lovely in person as he’d been helpful by message. I wouldn’t change a thing and would absolutely recommend staying here.

The view and neighborhood aren’t much to write home about, but the rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, and the air conditioning is a blessing. CS is very polite and neat. There’s a pool, though it closes at 18, so you can’t swim late at night. Breakfast is included and tastes good, but the coffee is instant. My friends brought their favorite ground coffee along, which I’d recommend doing too.

The garden and pool are neat, and the owner is friendly and very helpful. It’s a beautiful, clean, comfortable place with good breakfast. It’s close to the Center but still quiet, and they clean the rooms every day.
