Suites La Tortuga

The beach location was the best part, close to restaurants and a local shop, and it felt quiet and cozy. The price was okay for what you get. Free sun chairs and beach hammocks were nice, and breakfast was great, though free coffee refills would have been a nice touch. The restaurant has a fantastic ocean view. WiFi was weak, but worked fine around the restaurant and pool. The pool and rooms were clean and tidy, while the shared kitchen could have been cleaner. We ended up in a room by the parking lot and got woken by staff in the morning. Rooms with AC are at the back, without an ocean view. The pool sits in the middle of the parking lot, but it’s a good pool and you barely notice. The hostel arranged Mastercard payment for both our stay and food bill.

Saturday markets are great, and you’re right on the beach in Ayampe.

We came by every day for coffee, beers, jugos, and WiFi, though we didn’t stay overnight. The deck has a lovely view of the ocean and surfers, and the place has a cool atmosphere with friendly staff. We’d stay here on our next visit. It looks like a perfect spot for families.

I stayed in both the Tortuga cabañas and the Tortuga suites, and both were really nice quality rooms with great service. The cabañas are a little smaller and hotter, though they do have pedestal fans. Food at either site was delicious, and the cabañas are right in front of the ocean. The staff were all friendly and helpful. I’d recommend either option!
