I spent three weeks at Wipeout last summer while volunteering in Las Tunas, and I can't wait to visit again. Byron and Alexandra, who run the hostel and restaurant with their family, did everything to make guests feel welcome. The food was amazing, and the place is right on the beach. Each day I worked in the community with Michael and Nexar, other family members, cleaning beaches, painting murals, and teaching English classes. If you're volunteering from an English-speaking company like GoEco, keep in mind that most people in Las Tunas don't speak English. Taking time to experience the culture and get to know the people taught me so much, and I fell in love with this small community. I can't recommend the place or the family enough.

Their Encocado was the best dish around: fish, shrimp, octopus, and squid in a subtle coconut sauce, served in a coconut. Wipeout has great local flavor, excellent cocktails, and interesting preparations, all run by a lovely family. People may point you to Delfin Magico, Pau Pau, or De Jimmy's, but I enjoyed this typical local spot most in the area. You won't be disappointed.
