Hostal Las Fragatas

The showers were the weak point for us, with disappointing water temperature and pressure. Otherwise, this hotel was great for what it is, and the owner was kind even after my friends in another room accidentally broke something. We stayed two nights in October 2017 as part of our Guiding Galapagos tour, and had breakfast at a local restaurant down the street. By the front desk there’s a small room with a table, chairs, mini fridge, and water filter, which guests can use to chill things and refill bottles. There are a couple of outdoor tables and chairs too, plus a ground-floor area with clotheslines for wet clothes. The AC was great. Isabela is quiet, so despite being very near the main street, we heard nothing. Almost everyone passing the hotel was walking or biking, with barely any cars on the road.

The rooms are spacious, tidy, and clean, and the owner is friendly. Breakfast is served at a nearby restaurant, which was excellent too. Isla Isabela may not be very big, but this hostel is in a great spot on the island. Highly recommended.

There were four of us staying for just one night, and when we opened the blankets they were dirty and covered in hair. The cleaning person acted as if he didn’t understand when we called him, then refused to change them. When the owner arrived, she spoke with him and they decided to send us away because we were “the first to complain.” We changed hotels.

Just a few steps from the beach, with comfortable, cozy rooms. A good hotel option. Excellent, recommended!
