La Casa de Marita

Anthony was amazing, so friendly and personable. We caught the earliest ferry and couldn’t have breakfast, so he packed us bags full of delicious snacks to take along. Our ocean view room had an exceptional view, and everything was clean and functional, though the rooms could use updating. Casa de Marita exceeded our expectations. It’s also close to the “downtown” area and places to eat.

The hotel is right by the ocean and has a private beach area, which was really nice. It’s also easy to walk to the restaurants and bay. The rooms are dated but clean, and breakfast was good, though it got repetitive after a few days. Our first room had no working A/C at all. We had to contact our travel agent to put pressure on the hotel before they changed our room.

We had a ‘yellow’ room with large windows and a balcony facing the sea. It was spacious, with a fridge, comfortable bed, chairs, a side table, and a hammock outside. The views were great, and it was pleasantly quiet both day and night. The hotel was kept very clean. Reception had drinking water, so we didn’t need to buy any. We also had tapas and wine delivered to the balcony one evening, and it was very good and good value. They provided extra gluten-free breakfast items when we asked. The Senior Receptionist was especially good and checked in on how our stay was going. Staff carried our suitcases up since there’s no lift. One thing to know: the sea seemed better suited to surfing than swimming along that part of the island’s coastline, unless you’re confident in the water. We’d definitely recommend the hotel.

We only went to the restaurant for dinner, and the food was excellent. For an appetizer, try the Tuna Cusa. The shrimp in coconut sauce and the fish with tomato crust were both amazing.
