Hostal La Molienda

We had a great breakfast each morning, and the hosts gave us wonderful service even though the place wasn’t busy. We also got to meet some really nice locals. The house is beautiful, and I loved having my morning coffee in the garden. It’s pet-friendly, not far from the centro or bus station, and the Monkey sanctuary is just a short cab ride away. We arrived very early for our spontaneous overnight trip to Puyo, so I called ahead to let them know. They let us check in early, which was especially helpful after my aunt got sick on the drive through the Andes and needed to rest before our outing. The mom and her son seemed to do most of the work, and everything ran well. Thanks for your hospitality, we hope to see you again.

The wifi and internet are excellent here, and breakfast was great too. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Such a lovely place, highly recommend it.

La Molienda feels like home away from home, and the family-friendly bed and breakfast is a lovely way to experience Ecuadorian culture. I first came when I was ten, while the owner, Carmita Freire, was just beginning construction. I had the best time exploring the city. Fifteen years later, on my second visit, I’m still enchanted by the city and its attractions. Born in New York, I’ve felt connected to my country’s roots through visiting Comunidad Indichuris, which Carmita Freire recommended. It’s only a 20-minute drive from La Molienda. I swung on a vine a thousand feet above the ground, tried delicious Agua de Guayusas, and crushed cacao beans to make what felt like the finest hot chocolate in the world, the way my father did as a child. I know this magical place in Puyo, Ecuador will welcome its guests like family.

The hosts were kind and full of useful information. A great place to stay, and easy on the budget.
