The family who run Arupo B&B are so welcoming, always smiling and friendly. I’ve stayed there on two trips to Quito, and I’d choose it every time I’m back. It’s in the old town, handy for many of the city’s attractions. There are around ten rooms, all private and clean, plus a backyard. Guests can use the kitchen. Like many older homes nearby, the building has a concrete fence around it.

The staff are lovely, and I enjoyed the breakfast, bed, and hot water. I’d suggest booking a garden view room. The other rooms face the street, which gets really noisy, especially on weekends. One downside is that you have to get the person working to open the hostel’s front door from the street, so sometimes you’re left waiting. It really needs a way to open it from inside.

I had a really good stay at Arupo BnB. The rooms are spacious and clean, with hot water, and it was very quiet during my early-week visit. The Foch area feels safer than centro histórico, though the neighborhood farther north around Parque Carolina is more upmarket. I’d still come back here.
