The shower temperature kept fluctuating, so that was the one thing that stopped this from being a five-star stay. Otherwise, it's an easy recommendation: breakfast is included, WiFi is fast, and the staff and management are courteous and friendly. The place is clean and feels safe, with roomy accommodations and well-kept furniture and fixtures. The Mariscal location is great, just two blocks from Plaza Foch, and it's excellent value for the money.

The staff were kind, and the rooms were nice and affordable, but I can't overlook what happened during my two-night stay. Nobody asked or told me that housekeeping might come into my room. When I got back, a stained glass piece I'd bought at the Basílica del Voto Nacional was missing from my desk. It was genuine and mattered to me. I found a little dark humor in the possibility that someone had unknowingly handled such a sacred object, but mostly I was furious.

Breakfast is part of the room rate, but there's no restaurant for lunch or dinner, and parking isn't available. The hotel is right in the city center, and the rooms are clean with WiFi and cable TV. It costs a little more than other hostels nearby, without offering any special service over them.

The beds were comfortable, though the showers made a lot of noise. The customer service gets a 100/100, and it's in an excellent spot, especially given how unsafe Quito is nowadays.

The people at the hostal are really kind, and the attention was very nice.
