Casa Rábida Hotel Restaurant

The beds were the standout for me, really comfortable, with duvets that felt like clouds. The rooftop and piano give the place a nice vibe, and the hostel itself is welcoming and spotless. The owner and staff are a delight, friendly and full of useful information. It’s in an affluent part of Quito, with bars, coffee shops, and places serving Ecuadorian food just minutes away.

The owner, Caralina, made us feel at home and helped us plan trips and work out how to get around. As an American with almost no Spanish, I really appreciated being able to communicate with a local host so easily. We came back to Casa Urbana for a second stay and used it as our base in Ecuador. My wife and I loved it, and if I return to Quito, I’ll stay here again without question. The atmosphere is laid back, with guests mostly in their late twenties or thirties. It’s not a party hostel. We had a private room with clean, comfortable beds, good for a nap or reading. Breakfast was great, with good food and nice chats with other guests. The lobby feels homely, with comfortable sofas, a fireplace, plenty to read, and lovely staff. It can be easy to miss from the street. We accidentally went to the hostel next door, but once inside, Casa Urbana is hard to miss.

Carolina was especially helpful, from arranging tours to handling late arrivals and even middle-of-the-night airport rides. The rooms were spotless, and they provide lockers and drinking water. This hostel is a real Quito gem, highly recommended.

Carolina helped us extend our stay several times when our last-minute Galapagos cruise plans took longer than expected. We ended up staying 10 nights before the trip, then happily came back for another five. When I realized at the airport that I’d left my daypack with important things in the hostel lounge, I messaged Carolina on WhatsApp. She replied quickly, found it, and kept it somewhere safe until we got back. I’m so grateful, my mistake could easily have messed up the trip. The bed was very comfortable, the place was spotless, and it was cleaned thoroughly on most days of the week. Breakfast was great too. But Carolina was the best part of our stay. 11/10, thank you! -Lauren and Gerrod
