Don't trust a Booking.com reservation here. We arrived late at night to find they'd already sold the double room with a balcony we'd booked. They offered us a worse room with no window, at a higher price than our Booking.com rate. That put us in a difficult spot, since the streets in this part of Quito don't feel very safe at night. We chose another nearby property instead. The woman wasn't helpful and didn't seem concerned about our safety.

The people working here are extremely friendly, and the prices are great. It's a clean, tidy hostal with lots of room, a lovely garden, and a pretty courtyard. A great value if you're looking for somewhere cheap, where you can relax and set off on different activities. I'll keep coming back when I'm in Quito. 👍🏼 8 stars ⭐️ Gracias

A great place to stay in Quito, particularly if you're traveling long term or working remotely. There's a small garden with hummingbirds, a co-working area, and two kitchens. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and affordable.

Hostal Alcala has been our place for more than 20 years. The people are lovely, the rooms are comfortable, and breakfast is included. We also really like the coffee and the cute setting. Great location, too.

We came back three separate times because it was good value and the people were reliable, helpful, and accommodating. They really try to make your stay a good one. It's budget accommodation, but always clean and neat, and we enjoyed the breakfasts. Right in the busy Mariscal district, with restaurants, cafes, minimarkets, ATMs, and a laundry just up the street. We could leave our rental car in a locked garage space.
