Hotel Carolina Montecarlo

Please be careful. During a trip arranged by a travel agency, we stayed here for two nights. While we were out during the day, cash was taken from our luggage. At least eight people in my group experienced theft, and it also happened to two other groups sent by the same agency. I’m not saying anything was wrong with the hotel itself, but whoever took the money had access to the rooms, so it may have been someone on staff. The in-room safes didn’t work, which meant we couldn’t use them for valuables, though our cash had been hidden. The hotel denied responsibility. And to the staff replying to me: you have the dates wrong. This happened during our second stay, not the first. On the first stay I arrived at 9 PM and left the next morning, so nobody else could have accessed the rooms during those few hours overnight. Please review the camera footage from 11-12 September. We were there for two nights, with our bags left in the rooms during housekeeping. I’m sure you’ll see something different from what you’ve said.

The rooms are clean and nice, and the neighborhood has plenty of shops and restaurants. It’s a busy area, though, so don’t head out alone after 8 pm.

I stayed in both hotel buildings, one attached to the lobby and the newer one behind the parking lot. Each room was clean, tidy, and comfortable, and both had complimentary water bottles. There’s also a fitness room that does the job. Breakfast had a decent range, including fruit and some Ecuadorian dishes, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

The stay was comfortable, and breakfast was excellent. Bello y definitivamente excelente hotel.
