Ilatoa Lodge

We stayed at this eco lodge twice during our trip and felt so welcome and well cared for. Marcelo and his team were wonderful, thoughtful, and helpful hosts. The rooms were lovely, the view stunning, and breakfast very nice. It’s a peaceful, unique place not far from the airport, a great option if you don’t have much time between connecting flights. The city is also easy to reach by taxi. We’d always recommend the lodge. Thank you, Marcelo!

We really enjoyed our stay and would happily come back. The owner and staff were warm and helpful, and breakfast was tasty. It’s a peaceful eco lodge just outside Quito, with roomy, comfortable rooms and balconies over a lovely flower garden full of hummingbirds. You can also see the mountains and volcanoes around Quito.

Those views of Quito are lovely, both in daylight and after dark, and the green grounds draw lots of hummingbirds. We spent three nights at Ilatoa and had a very enjoyable stay. The owners and their family were accommodating and helpful, including Luna the dog. They also arrange airport rides for a fee, which worked out great, and breakfast was delicious.

The steep hillside setting gives the lodge lovely views, though there isn't much to walk to nearby. I went down to Tambuca, but found little in the way of cafés or shops. Getting out for a local walk was awkward because the gates are shut, so I had to find the cleaner or staff to let me out. The garden is beautiful and full of hummingbirds, but watch where you step for dog poo. The owners' dogs wander through the dining and lounge areas, and sitting down left me covered in dog hair. The room was spacious and clean, though the locks were troublesome. The host was lovely and breakfast was good.
