For $20 per person, you can get a private room with a shared bathroom out back, which makes this an okay choice if you're watching your budget. It's a family-run hostel in an old heritage house, and could suit someone staying a night or a weekend in Quito. You can choose a room with or without breakfast, though the breakfast option isn't explained further here. The second floor, where the main entrance is, feels much more welcoming. Its light blue walls and antique decorations give it the feel of a curiosity shop, which seems to be what the owners are going for. Down on the first floor, some interior rooms feel uninviting because of the poor lighting. Harsh white bulbs in the dim hallways create an eerie atmosphere, as the photos show. The barred windows in all the first-floor rooms add to a prison-like feeling.

We paid a little extra for breakfast each day and got fresh bread, eggs, coffee, juice, cheese, and yogurt. There's also an affordable laundry service on site. The building has the charm of an older house converted into a hotel, and the rooms are clean and well cared for. It's family-run, with friendly, helpful staff and owners. The hotel sits across from the Consulate of Spain in a safe, central part of new Quito, with plenty of places to eat within walking distance. Ubers and taxis can get you to most city sights in minutes. For families with kids or travelers on a budget, it's a great option. I can't think of a better value in Quito.

We stayed here at both ends of our trip, and they even let us store some cold-weather gear while we went to Galapagos, which was a nice surprise. The house is old and charming. On weekends, traffic and motorcycles can get a bit loud, but that was rare and didn't bother us for most of our stay. The beds were great, and opening a window a crack kept the rooms nicely cool at night. Someone was at reception around the clock, and the price was great. They had everything we needed, including a taxi recommendation we used throughout our time in Quito. You can order the inexpensive breakfast the night before, and there's a kitchen and fridge if you want to make your own food. Highly recommend. I'd stay again if I returned to Quito.

The owner was really friendly and glad to help. There's a good Indian restaurant just across the street, and quite a few embassies nearby. The beds were pretty good, with lots of blankets. A room for two costs 28 USD a night, or 34 with breakfast, so it's good value.

I've stayed at Travellers Inn on four of my six trips to Ecuador, both when arriving and when leaving for climbing trips. It's one of my favorite Quito stays. Restaurants and businesses are within walking distance, and the location is great. Breakfast comes out quickly and is good. The staff are friendly, and they've let me use their facilities to clean my gear before packing for my flights home. The rooms are clean and comfortable, though simple. The TVs now have multiple channels and some web services like YouTube and Netfliks, and the WiFi is great.
