Yellow House

The balcony was fantastic, and the breakfast was really nice. The staff were brilliant at helping me arrange tours around the city.

The Yellow House in Quito felt like home, with a comfortable living room shared with two dogs and a cat. Gaby, the lovely, welcoming owner, served us a delicious breakfast each morning, and she and her daughter were friendly and helpful with all our travel needs. The rooms were quiet and comfortable in this charming old building. It’s not fancy, but it’s reasonably priced and sits in an eclectic, unpretentious neighborhood with several restaurants nearby. We loved staying here and highly recommend it.

The usual thing with older places in Latin America, bring earplugs and a sleep mask. I don’t normally travel with either, and that was the only downside. The rest was all good: the place was super clean, breakfast was nice, the family who own it were friendly, and the location worked well. I felt safe the whole time and really welcomed and looked after. I loved my stay and wish I could’ve stayed longer. If I go back to Quito, which I might, I’ll definitely return.

I stayed for more than ten days and felt right at home. Gabi and Shanti were so welcoming and made sure I was comfortable and well looked after. I went on day trips every day, so I had to get up early, but they still had breakfast ready for me at 6:30 am. I also appreciated their tips on attractions and restaurants. I’ll definitely come back if I visit Quito again.
