Tony and his family welcomed me so warmly, and the breakfast was stunning every day. The hostel is close to the city but surrounded by nature. You can walk there in 15-20 minutes or take a taxi for $1.50. My dorm was large and split over two floors, the bed was comfy, and the bathroom was always clean. They offer lots of activities and are always ready to help. I really loved my stay, one of the best hostels I stayed in during Ecuador. I highly recommend it to anyone passing through Tena.

You can tell this hostel is run with heart. Tony and his family gave great advice about things to do and see, and offered good tour options. The gardens and views are amazing, with native animals stopping by. The rooms are exceptionally clean and well maintained, and breakfast was high quality. A peaceful stay.

Tony offers several tours, including whitewater kayaking and rafting. The property is beautiful and the rooms are nice. It’s far enough from town to hear some jungle sounds, with only light road noise, but close enough to walk to restaurants and other places.

Rafting with Tony was a highlight. The tour was well organized, the guides were very qualified, and all the needed equipment was provided. We felt safe the whole time and had a lot of fun taking in the incredible landscape. Staying at pakay Hostel was one of our absolute highlights in Ecuador too. The garden is beautiful and the atmosphere is calm and relaxing. Tony and his family are incredibly warm and welcoming, and breakfast was fresh, delicious, and more than enough.

Toni and his wife make you feel like family from the moment you arrive. They’re easygoing and help organize pretty much anything, and the breakfast is next level. They care a lot about the environment, which was one of the main reasons I chose the place. Ask them about the area: they know it inside out and have loads of ideas for trips and adventures, way more than just locals. It’s up in the hills amid lush greenery, in vibrant Tena, the gateway to the Amazon. They somehow speak about ten languages, so communication is no problem. Come see for yourself.
