Kassimaja Guesthouse

Everything I needed for traveling by bicycle was there, including a washing machine, and the owners were glad to help. They speak Finnish and gave me a friendly welcome. I first stayed more than two years ago, and both then and this time, Kassimaja called before I’d even arrived. It’s close to the city center.

The host speaks Finnish really well, so language wasn’t a problem. I’ve never met anyone in the area who was friendlier or more helpful. Advice and help came without me asking, and they offered even more whenever I had a question. It’s a detached house in the garden part of the city, with a few affordable, clean and cozy apartments. The landlord lives in one of them. Nearly everything you need is within a 10-15 minute walk; for places you don’t want to walk to, a taxi costs about €5 for 1.5 km. There’s room for a couple of cars in the yard behind the gate, if you don’t want to leave your party out on the street. And the name fits: the kitties stay outside and came over to say hello as soon as we drove into the yard. Highly recommended 😎

The private house has a beautiful yard, and the apartments are clean and spacious. You can park in the yard or on a quiet street. The hosts are friendly and speak Finnish. It’s in a good spot, about 200-300 m from the city center shopping center.
