2/10
The apartment was dirty, with dirty sheets and a floor that the previous guest hadn't cleaned. The owner was unpleasant, there was no parking, and the courtyard was neglected with not a flower in sight. The list of rules and penalties in euros was off-putting, including a 25 euro fine for not taking out the garbage and another penalty for not washing all the dishes. We always wash the dishes and leave a clean room, but reading those requirements and fines was uninviting.

The room was clean and modern, with a kitchen, a comfortable bed, TV, and a comfortable shower and toilet. The hotel rooms are in the courtyard of a historic building in the heart of Pärnu, beside the main pedestrian street and a 10-minute walk from the train station. I booked quickly on Booking.com that evening while riding the bus, since I needed one night in Pärnu and a room was available. Instructions came by private message. I found the hotel fairly quickly, but had a little trouble locating my apartment because the courtyard was poorly lit in the evening. The lighting could be better. One motion-activated lamp isn't enough if you're checking in late at night, as I was.
