Tervis Medical Spa Hotel

Our neighbors were loud and rude late at night and again early in the morning. The walls were so thin that we heard everything, and the banging sometimes shook them. The place felt more like a ferry than a wellness hotel, with many guests seeming unaware of personal space or quiet. The atmosphere felt dated and at times not suited to a relaxing retreat. The spa was crowded and didn’t seem hygienic. The Turkish sauna smelled of damp swimsuits, a child’s bath with waste was left unattended, and people drinking from cans added to the chaotic feel. Our room was poorly cleaned, with the night table left on the floor. It had no shampoo, hairdryer, kettle or coffee, and just one pair of towels, which we needed for the spa. A loud bathroom noise once sounded like an emergency and made us evacuate, but it turned out to be a ventilation problem. Breakfast was disappointing too: the coffee was “truck drivers’ coffee,” there was a hair in my food, and the vegetables weren’t fresh. Staff were polite and helpful, but the business seemed careless about maintaining standards, as if it was used to hosting large groups without attention to quality. This was nowhere near the relaxing spa stay we’d hoped for.

Breakfast starting at 7.30am was too late for us, as we had to leave for other destinations at 8am and rushed through it. It would help tourists heading to Latvia and Lithuania if breakfast began at 6.30am. With long queues, 30 minutes isn’t much time to eat. The hotel could let early departures take bread and fruit without paying the extra 18€. The front desk staff were unfriendly and rather arrogant. There was no coffee setup in the room, and we had to ask for a kettle.

We had a peaceful, happy break at Tervis Spa Hotel in Pärnu, with fresh air, seaside walks and tasty food. The massages, pearl baths and healing mud treatments all added to the relaxing feel. Guests came from Sweden, Norway, Finland and the UK, which made it seem like a trusted favorite. A lovely place for rest and wellbeing, highly recommend.

The spa had plenty of space and very good saunas, though it was crowded and didn’t feel especially relaxing. The changing rooms were cramped, and the three hairdryers were squeezed into the narrowest spot. Our room was spacious and the bathroom looked recently renovated, but there was no ventilation, the bedding felt very synthetic, and there was no hairdryer or extra spa towels. The hallway carpet was covered in spots and should be replaced. Breakfast offered a lot of choices, but most food was tasteless and supplies were running low near the end. Staff gathered it up in a way that didn’t feel respectful, and the coffee machines had long lines. For the price, this felt like a mediocre hotel and poor value, more like being on a ferry.
